Our Monday after Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday is a time of celebration. It is also a time of reflection. We think about Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and its significance. It's a time to rejoice, the tomb is empty, and our Savior has risen.

And then Monday comes.

We are tempted to shift our minds to our regular routines, busy schedules, and work demands. But Easter is not just a time to pause and reflect. The significance of Easter extends to more than just one day. Easter is not the end of the Holy Week; Easter is a beginning.

Jesus' death on the cross, the empty grave, and our resurrected Savior give us hope and a greater purpose for us to live every day.

Jesus spoke some parting words to his disciples shortly before he ascended into heaven after dying on the cross and rising again. Here's what he said:

Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." – Matthew 28:18–20

His words reflect how he wanted them to continue his work. He began by telling them that all authority in heaven and on earth was given to him, and he ended by telling them he would be with them always. For these disciples and future followers, the Holy Spirit provided both the power and the presence to accomplish this mission— this Great Commission.

As followers of Jesus, we have been instructed to continue his work, but not in our own strength. We've been invited to experience his power through the work of the Holy Spirit in us. The same power that brought Jesus back from the grave is alive in us.

As you think about your workweek today, take a pause and reflect on this truth: God has chosen to use you to accomplish his work. Isn't that an incredible thought? The God who created the universe could accomplish his plans without our help, but he has invited us to be part of it.

So as we jump into our Monday after Easter Sunday, let’s do it with the realization that we are to live-out the greatest commission of our lives – to share His message of love and hope with others.
